Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes. Subscription Radar is free to use. There is no paid tier, no trial timer, and no card required to sign up.
Does it connect to my bank?
No — not today, and the app will not pretend otherwise. You add subscriptions yourself, either by picking from the 200+-service catalog (which pre-fills the usual price and billing cycle) or by entering anything custom. The database is already designed for an automated bank import, but that integration is not built, so nothing asks for your banking credentials.
How do the renewal reminders work?
A scheduled job runs once a day, finds anything renewing at the offsets you chose (7 and 1 days before, by default), and sends a single digest email rather than one message per subscription. Each reminder is claimed in the database before it is sent, so a retry or an overlapping run cannot email you twice.
Can anyone else see my subscriptions?
No. Isolation is enforced by Postgres row-level security, not by application code — every table carries a policy restricting rows to their owner, so a bug in the UI cannot leak another account. Administrators can read aggregate platform statistics but cannot modify your data.
Are the listed prices accurate?
They are starting points, and your own figure always wins. Of the 200+ catalog services, 498 have a price checked against the provider's official pricing page; the other 321 are deliberately left blank because the price could not be verified — a login wall, a CAPTCHA, or a service like Patreon that has no single price. None were guessed.
What currencies does it support?
Each subscription stores its own currency, and totals normalise across mixed billing cycles — a weekly charge and an annual one roll up into a comparable monthly figure using a 365.25-day year, so nothing is under-reported.
